Sometimes talking to loved ones about your health can be uncomfortable, for some it can be downright scary. In my practice I often ask "have you discussed your health issues with your spouse or adult children?" Most often the answer is no. These are individuals with chronic , non-life threatining issues (hypertension, diabetes, etc). However these conditions progress, lots of medications prescribed, and there can be side effects and interactions.
Do your family members know what medication you are taking?
The Guardian was meant as a less threatening way to organize so you can discuss with your family important issues.
What if you are hospitalized, is you son who is 1000 miles away, on your HIPAA sheet? Do you have medical power of attorney? Where is it? What if you are single? Is your best friend aware of any of your medical conditions?
When you sign up with the Guardian System you get online/email coaching to encourage you to have these conversations.
